The Dogs once again looked like a great team in need of discipline. Tons of penalties. 3 turnovers. and a safety. How many times can you turn the ball over and expect to succeed? Our mental mistakes in the form of both penalties and turnovers were enough to make me want to jump off a bridge. First down Bulldogs? No sir...that's holding...let's move it backward. Third down...incomplete pass...time for South Carolina to punt? Nor sir...let's move the chains for them with a penalty. Ugh.
I don't have the exact stats but it felt as though every time we got in the red zone we'd get a penalty or some bad break and end up kicking a long ass field goal. Meanwhile we kept trying to hand it to them in our territory.
I dig the night games. ESPN took way too many time outs and the game took forever. I do appreciate not sitting in direct sunlight though.
As for our game plan...can someone explain to me why we insist on high risk passing that stops the clock in the fourth quarter? Or better yet....why float one out there for a pick six deep in the fourth quarter in your own territory?
Run the damn ball, Bobo.
Other random notes:
Out for the season: Rod Battle, Senior Def. End & Freshman Def. Tackle, Derrick Lott. I had a guy tell me the other day that college football injuries are insignificant...especially at a school like Georgia where you're supposed to have 5 guys waiting behind him to jump in. I don't buy that...people compete for a starting job and they reward the best player that spot. They'll sub in the next guy but there's no substitute for snaps in a big game.
